Magnetic Island Schoolies Week 2010 & 2011
Schoolies Week at Magnetic Island, located off the coast near Townsville is popular with schoolies from north Queensland. There is limited accommodation so make sure you book early.
Known to those in the know as Maggie Island, it is a beautiful tourist destination with a friendly local community. Due to the magnetic pull of the island, any compass looking for the mainland is rendered useless and people have been known to lose all desire to return to the mainland and in some cases memory of its existence.
